Hey reader! Most of you have probably heard about the town of Semey in Kazakhstan that is sadly best known to the world for the Soviet nuclear-testing ground. However, few of you know that Semey has a rich cultural heritage. It is also continuously developing and expanding its tourism infrastructure.
This year, the authorities of Semey plan to begin construction of a multifunctional complex “Abai Arena” that will enhance the rich cultural and sports life of the city. The venue will be built according to international standards and is designed for 5000 seats. The opening of the complex is planned for the 300th anniversary of Semey.
According to akim (mayor) of Semey Danial Akhmetov, the “Abai Arena” complex will feature a large swimming pool designed for tournaments, swimming lessons, water aerobics, water polo and diving, as well as for recreational purposes.
The facility will be over 14 thousand square meters. The exterior design will feature aluminum panels and will enhance spectacular view of the city. The venue will host competitions in various sports as well as concerts and festivals.
